Stratas Advisors is seeking a committed Renewables and Decarbonization Intern to join our Singapore office for a six-month internship. The primary focus of this position will be conducting research on renewable transport fuels from Asian and global perspectives. The intern will gather and analyze information and data, and distill key takeaways and implications, provided to clients through online client products and bespoke consulting engagements.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and collect data/information on the biofuels and other renewable transport fuels and the transport and energy sectors, including overall market growth, fiscal policies, sales of alternative vehicles, trade dimensions and developments by competitor, at a country and region level.
- Assist in forecasting and model supply and demand, production capacity, feedstock splits, support mechanisms and tariffs at the Asian and country level.
- Prepare written analysis of markets and policies in reports/memos/data provided for internal use and for clients, as well as in other forms, such as PowerPoint slides and Excel files.
- Streamline overall data gathering and handling.
- Help coordinate data and information sharing between the Renewables and Decarbonization team and other teams within Stratas Advisors (e.g., Automotive, Fuels Specifications and Hydrogen teams).
- Deliver analytical content and market insights associated with strategic consulting engagements.
- Provide research and analytical support to other teams within Stratas Advisors when required.
Requirements:
- BA/BS is required, and an MA/MS, specifically with work in economics or transportation/energy, is a plus.
- Demonstrated interest in the transport or energy sector, particularly biofuels and other renewable fuel alternatives
- Familiarity with the energy value chain (supply, demand) and basic economic concepts is a plus
- Strong quantitative skills with a comfort level using MS Excel are critical.
- Proactive, detail-oriented and able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities such as consulting is desirable
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English
- Knowledge of Chinese, Indonesian, Japanese or other Asian language is a plus
- Willingness to work remotely
- Candidate must have the legal right to live and work in Singapore without the need for a work permit or sponsorship
